NEWSREADER (ABC Radio) - The Attorney-General, Jim McGinty, has
expressed disappointment that several major pieces of the Government
The Government have given the anti-bikie bill and gay law reform
package priority in the hope of having them passed by both Houses
before Christmas.
MPs returned to Parliament several hours after debating the gay law
reform package until just after seven this morning. Debate of the bill
is now in the Upper House and is unlikely to be completed by the end of
next week, when the chamber rises for the year.
Mr McGinty says Parliament will have to return early in the new year to deal with the legislation.
