Right now there are loving families in our community that can’t be recognised under Australian law. 81% of young people surveyed by beyondblue in 2008 have been the victims of verbal or physical abuse because of their sexual orientation. People who want their true gender identity recognised have to undergo expensive and dangerous surgery to get legal recognition. Change needs to happen.

In the lead up to the 2010 Federal election both of Australia’s major political parties are failing to commit to any reform or change on these issues, despite numerous recommendations from the Human Rights Commission. Unless our community is motivated to lobby for change, these fundamental inequalities will be left off the Government agenda for another three years. We refuse to let that happen.

Will you help us build our community’s capacity for change? With your help, we can get our voices into the national spotlight.

Gay & Lesbian Equality (WA) is building a new grassroots campaign in our community. We have worked with some of the top social change organisations in Australia to develop skills and strategies for achieving change in a Federal Election year. Through online lobbying tools, information kits and community lobbying workshops, our campaign aims to build the knowledge, skills and networks needed to make sexuality and gender equality a key topic for this year’s Federal election.

By making a donation to Gay & Lesbian Equality (WA), you can help us to get our Government to commit to change at this election. Here’s an example of how your support can make a difference:

$50 will fund over 50 information kits for distribution in the community

$100 will fund over 100 information kits for distribution in the community

$250 will cover the cost of a Community Lobbying Workshop

$1,500 will cover the cost of a Half Page Ad in a community newspaper in the lead-up to the Federal Election

With your support, Gay & Lesbian Equality (WA) can help to stop the suffering and disadvantage faced by loving families and caring individuals in our society. Thankyou for making the dream of full equality possible.

Gay & Lesbian Equality offers advertising space on our website for community organisations or businesses interested in getting their word out to our members.

How does GALE Website Advertising work?

The GALE banner ads cycle through up to 50 images, depending on how many images are uploaded to our server.

GALE offers 50 total advertising spots on our website, at a cost of $100.00 per spot for a 12 month period. This guarantees your organisation a minimum percentage of advertising space.

If we have only sold half of our advertising space, you will get double the exposure you paid for.

For example:

5 spots x $100.00 = $500.00, which equals a minimum of 10% of total advertising on the GALE Website.

If only 10 total spots have been sold, you have 50% of the images currently circulating in the image placeholder, thus your advert is visible on the GALE Website 50% of the time.
