

Birney challenged on gay law reform rollback
Will Liberal Leader explain recent comments against gay families?

Western Australia's peak gay and lesbian equality group has challenged Liberal Leader Matt Birney to make clear whether he still supports rolling back the human rights of gays and lesbians under WA law.
Gay and Lesbian Equality (GALE) convenor Rod Swift said Western Australians had a right to know if the Liberal Party was still committed to its anti-gay 'Family First' position statement, or whether it would retain laws implemented by parliament in 2001-2002.
"Recent comments have made it unclear whether Mr Birney supports gay and lesbian MPs and their de facto partners being given the same treatment as heterosexual MPs," Mr Swift said.
"All members of parliament should have the same entitlements under the law
